How long have you worked with Matsuura and what does your job entail? I was fortunate to be a part of the Matsuura USA team from the beginning, when Matsuura USA was established in early 2013. I like to joke that this was (BC) before carpet was even installed in the headquarters. My main responsibility is to oversee the daily operations of the technical departments to ensure efficient execution and delivery of Matsuura’s technical operations. I establish, implement, and communicate the department’s strategic direction and formulate technical and best practices to address customer needs. One of my favorite aspects of this position is to collaborate with colleagues in product development, sales, and marketing to champion new methods and innovate the way forward.
What is unusual or a memorable moment at Matsuura? I met Mr. Matsuura in 2013 when he visited Matsuura USA. It was a brief ‘hello’ and we shook hands. A full year later, when we met again, he recalled exactly who I was and what role I had. His remembrance made me feel like I mattered to this company, and it is the reason why I have made it my home.
What is a career lesson you have learned thus far? There are many, but one that stands out is: never stop learning and always reach for that job position you desire, even if you think it is out of your league.
What is your favorite part of your role at Matsuura? When we are able to turn a challenging customer relationship into a great one.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t Matsuura’s VP of Technical Services? I always thought it would be rewarding to be a diesel mechanic.
What do you do when not at Matsuura? I enjoy spending quality time with my family on the boat, or participating in off-road motorsports.
What is a fun fact many people do not know about you? I proudly served in the United Stated Coast Guard.
Anything you would like to add? Matsuura is a family-owned business and the family culture resonates deeply throughout Matsuura. I truly enjoy working with my worldwide Matsuura family.
