Welcome to our employee spotlight series, featuring profiles on Matsuura team members. Get to know Matsuura’s Service Support, David Danielson (デービッド ダニエルソン):
How long have you worked with Matsuura and what does your job entail? I have greatly appreciated working at Matsuura USA for 6 years. My work anniversary is actually today, November 16th. I work in Matsuura’s Service Department providing technical document support to our Matsuura engineers, distributors and customers. In addition, I catalog and help coordinate the shipment of precision service tooling our Matsuura Service Engineers require. Many of our customers run their Matsuura machines unattended, 24/7, Lights Out Machining and will occasionally need our technicians for maintenance. Another important request for Service is during new machine installations.
What is unusual or a memorable moment at Matsuura? An unusual event was during one of Minnesota’s bone chilling months when my coworker, Roger, and I braved the outdoor weather to perform our own science project. We created a mini snowstorm by launching a cup of water into the air. Our Marketing Team even shared it across Matsuura’s social media platforms. Of course, this was during our lunch break.
What is a career lesson you have learned thus far? Technology is always changing. It is an honor to see it firsthand through the innovative products and services Matsuura provides.
What is your favorite part of your role at Matsuura? My favorite part of working at Matsuura is being able to “hear” the smiling voice on the other end of a phone call or an e-mail after resolving a service request.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t Matsuura’s Service Support? I have always been in the industrial/production field working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components. I could incorporate that into an Arts & Crafts business.
What do you do when not at Matsuura? During the warmer months in Minnesota I enjoy being a part of an 18-week Golf League. Our son and daughter participate in local sporting activities that keep my wife and I on the go. Our son enjoys baseball, golf, and hockey and excels every year. I have been an assistant coach for his youth baseball team for a few years. Our daughter has been in a dance group roughly all her life. She has worked very hard at it and been rewarded with many first place competitions, and named an assistant coach. (Don’t Ask Me To Dance)
What is a fun fact many people do not know about you? I enjoy finding art in nature.
