MATSUURA MACHINERY USA, INC. ANNOUNCES THE SELECTION OF PATRICK ETHEN AS MATSUURA LUMEX APPLICATION ENGINEER

St. Paul, MN (November 3, 2017) — Matsuura Machinery USA, Inc. announces the selection of Patrick Ethen as the company’s first Matsuura LUMEX Application Engineer.

Ethen will train and support distributor engineers and Matsuura customers in the operation and troubleshooting of the Matsuura LUMEX Series product line for machine software, machining applications, cutting conditions and control functions.

The Matsuura LUMEX Series combines selective laser sintering (SLS) along with high speed milling (HSM) commonly called Hybrid AM. The series, manufactured for more than ten years, is now offered in North America with sales and technical support provided by Matsuura Machinery USA, Inc.

Matsuura’s unique combination of technology platforms enables the production of parts and component geometries in a method that has never been possible nor imagined. These unique machines manufacture highly complex integrated parts and molds in shapes and configurations that were once impossible using traditional milling methods.

“Patrick joins our team with many years of hands-on manufacturing experience, and extensive knowledge in the design and manufacture of precision tooling for the automation and testing industry,” said Tom Houle, Director, Matsuura LUMEX, NA, Matsuura Machinery USA, Inc.

Ethen will also perform time studies, test cuts, CAM and manual programming. As a Matsuura LUMEX Application Engineer, he will also create CAD models, setup and execute machine demos for both showroom machines and technical workshops/open houses and troubleshoot machine functions and Matsuura software.

Ethen previously held positions as a Global Applications Engineer and Mechanical Designer. In these roles, he gained experience and proficiency in applying features to current product design to determine solutions for customer challenges. In addition, in his design role, he developed automated pneumatic vehicle grip assemblies incorporating versatility, ease of use and dynamic range of motion.

Ethen earned an Associates of Applied Science, (MOES) Engineering Drafting and Design from Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Winona State University in Winona, MN.

“Patrick’s experience, along with his education and background, will be an asset as he interacts with our customers and distributor personnel in the training and use of the Matsuura LUMEX products,” Houle added.
